It’s Finally Here.

Do you know how long I have waited for this moment? Quite a while. News has been floating around about this since Bioware released the Normandy SR-2 Replica last year, and they finally (FINALLY) announced the release of a Sovereign Replica Statue! It stands 18.5″ tall (Just about 47cm), and is a lovely, conservative, $350.00. They’re limiting the production (at least this run) to 1000 units, and it’s not available until June. You DO, however, have to drop off a $100.00 deposit before that time (presuming all 1000 are sold by then), and then pay the other $250.00 when it ships. I do find that a bit expensive (and so does probably EVERYONE ELSE) but Sovereign (and most Reapers from Mass Effect) is easily one of my favorite Sci-Fi ship designs of all time, if not THE favorite. I’m hoping it’ll be of the same quality of the Normandy, and if it is we’re looking forward to 18 inches of pure Die-Cast bliss. If you’re feeling up to it, Lay your deposit down here!

October Release Schedule

Hey all! I just got the October Release schedule up, and on time for once! =O If last month was boring, this month is dead. 3 releases! Although we do get the MG Aegis Gundam (what should be the last kit in the SEED MG series, sadly) and the HG Legilis, which I’ve actually been looking forward to, despite the fact I never really got into AGE that much.

In other news, I’m slightly more than ticked at my school for not getting me my reimbursement check from my loans. I still have yet to receive it, despite being told that I should have gotten it the first week of September, when I actually started school. My brother got his three weeks before his classes started, but he is in Graduates School. They sure enjoy taking your money, but boy do they hate giving it back… ^^; I’m hoping to wipe another review off of my list before getting a new camera, but we’ll see how that goes. I also managed to grab some metallic gray paint that I need to test (probably on the Jesta) before deciding if I like it or not. I want to paint the inside frame of the Blitz in that sweet grey metallic that always shows up but that’s never named, but again, testing first. After I find a new box. There’s also someone down the street from me who’s selling an old Grand Cherokee Laredo that I might grab if I can narrow down the price enough…

A Trip Down Nostalgia Lane

So if you’re curious (Which I know you aren’t) I just read my review of the MG Blue Frame. It the was the first review I have ever written on this blog, and indeed one of the first post ever published here! And it’s the first time I have ever read it. I kid you not, but I very rarely read the reviews I write. I forget what made me read it, but I read it.

And good GOD was it bad. Not just the pictures (blurry as hell) but the writing was just… off. So I fixed it! I didn’t redo the pictures or anything (yet), I just re-sized them and fixed the writing for grammar and flow. It’s much better than it used to be, but not as good as my reviews are now (if you like to consider my current review style good, sans the months long hiatus). And you know what? That process brought me back! Reading through that review brought me back to the first days of this blog, and back to that model. I really liked the Blue Frame (even more than the Red Frame, if you wanna know),  and I really like this blog! The pictures were even sized to the original theme I had (Monochrome if you wanna know)! And as of late, I think I’ve fallen out of love with this. Not just this blog, but building models as a whole. Reading that review reminded me of how much I enjoyed not just building the Blue Frame, but how much I enjoyed writing it’s review! I even remember that about half-way through writing it, my computer died and I had to start ALL over again. But I still enjoyed writing it!

So I’m writing this to tell you I hope to start enjoying models (and this blog!) once again. I probably can’t nail down the reason I fell into this slump (Yes I can: Guild Wars 2), and I don’t know if I’m buying a camera just so I hope it’ll get me back into things, but I really want to start loving Gunpla again!

Maybe… After I explore this area in Guild Wars 2… ah, well… After this event….

Updated Monthly Release List & News!

Hey all! I just managed to update this Month’s release list ( a little late, I know), and it’s…. excessively boring. Four releases this month! Four! At least one of them is the MG Buster Gundam! =D I also must apologize for the complete lack of attendance lately (well a lot longer than “lately”…), but as the summer wrapped up, I got busier (somehow!), and more and more things got shoved farther and farther to the back of the bus. And then Guild Wars 2 came out (Lightning Review: BUY IT. BUY IT NOW), and well… Let’s just say I’m on my FOURTH character right now… ^^; (Sylvari are badass!). But I digress! I somehow got watching Gundam Unicorn again, and the end of Episode 5 made me both realize: 1.) Gundam rocks (and subsequently Gunpla) and 2.) Sunrise is filled with a bunch of dicks. Horrible, mean, terrible dicks. I mean SERIOUSLY? You leave us with a massive cock-tease for a YEAR!? But I digress…. AGAIN.

What I’ve been MEANING to get to was that I have the 00 Raiser |<–This–>| close to being finished! I swear! I just have to decal the 0 Raiser! Then my plans change! I WAS planning on holding off on the review until I got a new Camera. I’ve been looking to get the Nikon D3100 more and more over the past two months, so now I just need the money! I mean I have the money to grab it, I just don’t like losing a massive chunk of cash like that without at least the same amount of money to supplement it afterwards. I was hoping to get the remaining money from my loan from college by now, but I might have to wait until October! And I don’t feel like going ANOTHER month without anything to give you guys, so I might do some older, far long due reviews until I get my camera! I think that sounds rad, since I STILL haven’t done the second half of the RG RX-78-2 review yet! And it’s been…. HOW LONG!?

Be right back, guys. I need to get to work!

Guild Wars 2

Hey, did you know I pre-ordered Guild Wars 2 when I was first able to do so? NEITHER DID I! =D But yesterday I got a magical email containing my activation code, and I have almost been gaming non-stop since. Almost. Did manage to clean my room, and work on the 00 Raiser a bit, though! All that’s left for me to do is Decal the 0 Raiser and build the GN Sword III (not much progress since last time…. xP). School does start up next week, but it’s not going to take that much of my time… ^^; Seriously, if you saw my schedule, you’d probably punch me in the face at how awesomely timed it is. I get Wednesdays off, and get done with class by noon. Everyday. And they said college would suck. HA!

Back to Gunpla!

Hey all! sorry I haven’t been around for, well, awhile. I’ve been quite busy for the past few weeks with work, landscaping at home, and Skyrim (bought Dawnguard – best and worst decision I ever made!). I did, however, go up to Moosehead Lake this past week (got home yesterday!), and I took the MG 00 Raiser with me! I didn’t get too much done, as I wanted to do the best job I could on it so something like cutting and trimming parts took several hours. I still have three parts left (the GN Sword III and the 0 Riser’s Wings), then decal the 0 Raiser, and then I’m done! I really hope to finish in the next few days, as doing that small amount of work up at the lake really got me in the mood to build again, especially since I came home and remembered I had LOADS of models left to build! I did just grab Deponia (Steam Link) and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (Steam Link), so I’ll probably be blazing through those also. But one is a point-and-click Adventure, which I can never play for too long, and the other is a fairly linear shooter, which will take me about 20 minutes to beat. ^^’ I do have to finish cleaning my room, since I have about 3 metric tons of crap sitting on my photo booth (well, ‘booth’) that has to go before I can do reviews, but I can throw that back in my closet if I need too (like last time…).

So then! Until, uh, the next time (which will hopefully be soon)!

Fraps test

This is just a quick video test for recording with Fraps (the trial version only lets you get 30 second clips)! It’s a good thing I did this, since I noticed a few interesting things: 1.) Fraps almost halves my FPS while running any game. I can comfortably run Metro 2033 (shown) at about 40-50 fps on high graphics settings. With Fraps running, fps is down to 20 on average. 2.) Fraps lags during video playback.  If you notice any random lag spikes in the video above, I will note that they did not exist in-game. For some reason while compressing the video, Fraps kind of lagged at some parts. 3.) It’s dark. Really dark. That’s unedited, and it’s about 20% darker than in-game. This shouldn’t be a problem for most things, but Metro 2033 takes place in a dark, grungy, and DARK metro tunnel. So the little added darkness might make for some interesting points.
In other news, I’ve done very little extra on the 00 Raiser. I don’t know why I can’t work on it right now, but I’m in a bit of a slump. And since I want to do a fairly good job on it, I’m gonna wait until I REALLY want to work on it to get back to work. And it’s now August, so I should probably get to work on the Monthly Release Schedule! And I’m going Camping this weekend from Friday (the 3rd) to Sunday (the 5th). I’ll be kickin’ it old school with some friends on the Kancamagus highway, considered one of the most stunning scenes in the US during Autumn! “old school” Means no phones, no technology, and most importantly: bacon and eggs for breakfast, for three straight days! =D

News and stuff!

A few things to go over after being gone for a while! First thing should be obvious: The Steam Summer Sale! =D I just dropped $100.00 on games! But I saved oh-so-much more! Totally worth it! So if there’s some game you’ve always wanted, you should go grab it now, because it’s on sale. Right now. If you don’t own Skyrim on the PC, by the way, get it now. Top Tip of the day!

Oh That Mysterious Box~ pt. 8

So first thing’s first! The Release schedule for July got put up a little earlier, so you can go check that out if you feel so inclined. Strangely enough, there’s no Master Grade kit this month, but we do get the RG Justice, and a Base Jabber (Do we have to call it that?)! Anyway

Man Do I love Fed Ex! I ordered this package from HLJ on June 24th. I then got an email from them saying that since they’re changing over to Private Warehouse, My order might not ship until the 28th. But it shipped out the 27th, and arrived on my doorstep, FROM JAPAN, on the 29th. Frikking amazing, right? Right! Anyway, what’s in this box probably won’t be too amazing if you even occasionally check my Twitter Feed…

00 Raiser WIP 2!

Got the Gundam done! Well ,not ALL done, I still have to do the  backpack and weapons, and then it’s done.  Now up to this point, there has been almost no deviation from the Quanta’s build, so I won’t be posting this section up in the build. The only difference (apart from some armor pieces on the legs and shoulders) is the head. Since it lights up (SO BOSS) it has a clear peg going down into the neck. This limits movement somewhat, but I’ll get to that in the build! I expect the next few parts of the build to move fairly quickly, so the next post you’ll see here will probably be the Build post of the 00 Raiser Review! Hopefully that’s not like, next year or something… xD
