I’ve been “working” on the MG Banshee for a couple months now, but it’s definitely been an off and on project. This makes my third MG Unicorn build (6th total counting HG kits), and after the Full Armor Unicorn build, I basically have this thing memorized. It’s certainly not the most exciting build at this point, it’s gone from awe at the engineering of the kit to just… just… there’s soooo maaaaany PIECES.
Hey all! Sorry I haven’t been around for a while, but school (and Guild Was 2) has kept me far busier than I thought it would. So While I can’t get one of my backlogged reviews done, I am trying to stay more active! Recently, the Gunpla Expo World tour kicked off, and oh so many things have been announced that make my wallet weep! The first thing is up above, it looks like a preview billboard… thing…. for more Real Grade kits. And I would buy every one of those. Right now if I could. There’s some more gunpla goodness after the jump!
Gunpla news? On this blog? THAT’S INSANE! But anyway, Here I am, slightly depressed at not owning a new camera, hearing about the MG Nu Gundam Ver Ka. Now when I heard about this I was actually about to order the original kit and some resin parts to make it look more like the Gundam Evolve version, but now I don’t need to! =D If you’ve seen this before, you don’t really need to read farther (nothing new here), I’m just gonna gush about how awesome this kit is going to be…
A few things to go over after being gone for a while! First thing should be obvious: The Steam Summer Sale! =D I just dropped $100.00 on games! But I saved oh-so-much more! Totally worth it! So if there’s some game you’ve always wanted, you should go grab it now, because it’s on sale. Right now. If you don’t own Skyrim on the PC, by the way, get it now. Top Tip of the day!
So first thing’s first! The Release schedule for July got put up a little earlier, so you can go check that out if you feel so inclined. Strangely enough, there’s no Master Grade kit this month, but we do get the RG Justice, and a Base Jabber (Do we have to call it that?)! Anyway
Man Do I love Fed Ex! I ordered this package from HLJ on June 24th. I then got an email from them saying that since they’re changing over to Private Warehouse, My order might not ship until the 28th. But it shipped out the 27th, and arrived on my doorstep, FROM JAPAN, on the 29th. Frikking amazing, right? Right! Anyway, what’s in this box probably won’t be too amazing if you even occasionally check my Twitter Feed…
Got the Gundam done! Well ,not ALL done, I still have to do the backpack and weapons, and then it’s done. Now up to this point, there has been almost no deviation from the Quanta’s build, so I won’t be posting this section up in the build. The only difference (apart from some armor pieces on the legs and shoulders) is the head. Since it lights up (SO BOSS) it has a clear peg going down into the neck. This limits movement somewhat, but I’ll get to that in the build! I expect the next few parts of the build to move fairly quickly, so the next post you’ll see here will probably be the Build post of the 00 Raiser Review! Hopefully that’s not like, next year or something… xD
That was quick, wasn’t it? I’m loving the 00 Gundam so far, if for nothing else because it’s not a Unicorn Gundam… ^^; Managed to get the head done in about an hour, and the body in the same amount of time. I originally was going to go with my normal painting scheme with the eyes (Paint area black, paint eyes white, paint eyes metallic green), but since this lights up, I’d figure I wouldn’t paint the eyes, and that turned into an interesting experience. What I did was after I put a coat of paint on the eye section, I scraped off the individual eyes with a toothpick after letting the paint set for about 10 minutes. Sound like a pain? You bet! =D I am very happy with the result, though! The Gundam looks so much more badass with glowing eyes… ;__;
I’ll be gone most of the day tomorrow, so I probably won’t get much more done, but I might try to get an arm finished later today if I can!
The next project! I don’t plan to do anything snazzy with this, just panel line and decal, I don’t even think I’m going to top coat it (mainly because I’m out of Top Coat anyway…). Of course I didn’t do anything snazzy with the FA Unicorn and that took over a month! -_-‘ I do plan, however, to panel line it in the ‘classic’ way, with some black paint and thinner, so everything looks nice and crisp!
I am brutally torn with this kit. On one hand it was a long, arduous journey to get to this point, though on the other hand, it all looks so damn cool! I will say right up front that building this kit is, without a doubt, one of it’s biggest follies. There is a lot of stuff that comes with this, and putting it all together without wavering in quality is, to be honest, quite difficult. There is a limit I like to put on myself with how long it should take to build a model, and this broke it. But, is that trouble worth it? Let’s find out!
